Why smash the Cake ?
After the year we have had I have often said how memories are so so important. Yes I constantly have a camera out and yes I jump at the chance to document a moment. Our babies grow so so fast, one moment they are born the next , well they are off to school. My heart just can't take how fleeting these moments are. I want to breathe in every second so as to never lose it, lock it in my heart and take it with me.
I have never done a cake smash before but wow what an amazing day we had. My wee girl who hates to get her fingers dirty got right in there. She started with a macaroon and by the end of it had fists full of vanilla sponge. We had a great time and made incredible memories. In our case we didn't have the opportunity to make these memories as a family because of Our Brave boy not being so well and Daddy being a great Dad and watching over him. But we took it as an opportunity for the girls to have a day.
CAKE SMASH MUST HAVES
BABY- Yes you need a baby for this one.
TOWELS- I really did learn this the hard way , bad Mum award. But you going to want to have a towel handy to snuggle your messy bub in after she/he tries her hand at destroying a master piece.
WIPES- Um yes bring loads of wipes!
THE PERFECT OUTFIT- I choose to coordinate Baby Q to her cake and dress her in a beautiful fawn Love Izzi Romper and a Flower crown by the lovely Crowns of Glory. Yes the cake is going to stain , unless you are wonder women in the laundry so make sure you take that into consideration and be prepared.
THE CAKE- I had such a vision for what I wanted the cake to be and had the perfect colours in mind. I took these to the incredible Scandi Cakes (Perth) she took my heart and turned it into something beautiful! She was so helpful and no hurdle was to big. I call her the Yes lady. Super affordable concidering what I was being Quoted and she was just amazing with Quinn.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER- We all know I am a very keen picture taker myself but for this occasion I wanted the memories documented perfectly and for me to have the freedom to really get in there with Quinn and have fun. So I went to the amazing Sarah from Sarah Fong Photography, she was just incredible! Gave us all great direction and was just lovely with Quinn and really made her feel comfortable. She was also really affordable and sent me some sneak peaks really quickly , which I LOVED.
Get in there , get messy , have fun , live , create memories , make you kiddies laugh , be the type of parent they want to grow up to be.
